Year 3 was spent working in Australia to gain experience before returning for Year 4 in September 2014.

 

I was elected University Student Representative where I was required to attend training sessions and be continually active in taking action upon any issues of my fellow pupils. At the beginning of my second year I was elected to become the student deputy head of the Design Engineering and Computing School representatives. Taking on this responsibility meant I was required to attend and sometimes lead meetings with senior university staff in order to discuss issues as the 'voice of the students'.

    2014 – 2016: Mike Bliss Architecture

Surrey, UK
Since returning to the UK in summer 2014, I have worked at Mike Bliss Architecture. Being a small company I have been given a high level of responsibility across various areas of the business including managing the company IT, online profiles and website. Projects range from small house extensions, to full housing developments, derelict property, barn conversions and assisted living sites. 
   

 

2013 – 2014: Sope Web Technologies & YMCA

Australia, Melbourne, Australia
Sope Web Technologies took me in during my university placement. During my time at Sope I developed my knowledge of SharePoint through assistance from colleagues and self-taught practice. I was required to develop web visuals and mock-ups, develop company intranets, extranets and websites, provide SharePoint support for clients, develop user assistance manuals for new clients alongside the occasional administrative role.

After 2 months at the company I was offered a two-day a week, contracted role with YMCA Australia as the onsite IT and SharePoint communications specialist. During this time, I was required to regularly present to CEO’s from across the country via webinars and culminated at a major conference organised specifically for the presentation and roll-out of the system I created for the company.

 

I spent some evenings and weekends waitressing at Airstream, a large restaurant & bar. The managers regularly reported positive customer feedback. I took on this second job so that I could save up money to make the most of the fantastic opportunity to travel and explore Australia.

2011: Building Solutions Ltd, 2008 & Areen Hotel Design

As work experience I worked two weeks at an Architectural Practice, Building Solutions Ltd, where I was required to carry out surveys, draw up plans using AutoCAD and deal with telephone enquiries. I have also worked for an interior design company called Areen where I was responsible for selection of fabric and mood board presentations for prestigious hotel clients. I was very privileged to be asked to assist in project managing the designs for an Arabian prince's palace. This included drawing up architectural proposals using AutoCAD.


2009-2013: Hi*Hi Scandinavian Style

I had a Saturday job with a small company, Hi*Hi that are a small chain of clothing boutiques in my area. I continued to work there during breaks from university. Working for the company for a few years meant I gained higher responsibility within the team, occasionally managing the shop. I was regularly required to dress windows, complete the stock taking, paper work and re-design the shop layout according to seasonal changes.

 

My first job was waitressing at Westerham Golf Club where I worked in the bar, during functions and in the club's restaurant.

Background
I've always had a strong interest in design and technology developments. From this I have the ability to learn quickly whether self-taught or professionally trained. I first moved away from home when I was 18 and since have been privileged enough to spend a lot of time travelling to various locations around the world including a year in Australia and most recently 6 weeks travelling across Europe. In doing so my cultural interest and confidence has excelled. During my school years I had an interest in drama and enjoyed the performing arts, participating in several plays and shows from a very young age. This has played a large part in my ability and confidence to perform and present at all levels.
